Thevenard Island

Thevenard Island is a C Class Nature Reserve, offering accommodation at Club Thevenard, or in beach cabins. As well as accommodating holidaymakers, Thevenard Island also accommodates a oil storage facility.

Club Thevenard is a re-furbished ex-mining camp. The 30-room accommodation village caters for up to 55 guests and features a spacious dining room and bar, pool and outdoor relaxation area. It caters for singles, couples, families and groups and is very popular with backpackers and diving groups.

Alternatively, 11 comfortable beachfront cabins really allow you to be at one with nature. Cabins vary from two to five bedrooms and are fully self-contained.

Thevenard Island has its own shop, which sells everything from tackle and bait, to alcohol and food basics. The island receives fresh fruit and veggies every week and there is a large communal freezer for successful fishers.

Moorings are available in front of Thevenard Island for use by private boat owners at a cost of $10 per day.

Depending on how you go about getting to the Mackerels, you may have a stopover in Onslow, in which case the Onslow Mackerel Motel is ideal. The three-star motel is situated barely 20 meters from the beach, boasting a panoramic ocean aspect. It is without doubt the best place to stay in Onslow.
